Abused For A Living

Domestic help is a blessing for many women. But the quality of life for many immigrant domestic workers in the UAE is simply appalling. Read my guest post at the Women's Web Blog here to find out more.

  2. @S: Thanks for the heads-up. Went ahead, searched for it and read it. (If anyone else is interested here is the link: http://www.thehindu.com/opinion/op-ed/article2384742.ece)
It is indeed a pity but isn't credit card abuse common in other parts of the world, like India too? Also it is not just domestic workers who get caught in this-many well-educated and well-qualified people rake up debts and simply leave the country for good. In fact during the recession, many even abandoned their expensive cars which had heavy loans on them at the airport and fled. I guess it goes to show that we need to learn to live within our means. BTW for a working woman in her late 20s can you believe that I don't have even a single credit card!
